High Purity Nickel

MATERIAL OVERVIEW

Characteristics: Malleable, silvery metal; readily fabricated by hot and cold working; takes high polish; excellent resistance to corrosion. Attacked slightly by hydrochloric and sulfuric acids, somewhat more by nitric; highly resistant to strong alkalies.

Hazards: Flammable and toxic as dust or fume. Tolerance 1 mg/m³ of air (soluble compounds). (as Ni), 0.1 mg/m³ of air. Classified as a carcinogen (OSHA).
