Extinguishing Media: Use suitable extinguishing media for surrounding materials and type of fire.
Special Firefighting Procedures: Wear full protective clothing, including helmet, self-contained positive pressure or pressure demand breathing apparatus, protective clothing and face mask.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Material will begin softening at about 700 oC, will proceed to a liquid and will form irritating and toxic gaseous metallic oxides at extremely high temperatures.
V. HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
Effects of Exposure:
This is a non-combustible, non-reactive solid material. It is supplied in the form of glass sheets or powder. Exposure to glass powder or dusts may be irritating to eyes, nose and throat. At very high exposure levels the dust may have an effect on the lungs.
Acute Effects:
Inhalation: Dusts of this product may cause irritation of the nose, throat, and respiratory tract. When inhaled in very large amounts, damage to the lung can occur.
Ingestion: May cause temporary irritation of the throat, stomach, and gastrointestinal tract.
Skin: No components in this product are known to be absorbed through the skin. Dust or powder may irritate the skin. Mechanical rubbing may increase skin irritation.
Eye: Dust or powder may irritate eye tissue. Rubbing may cause abrasion of cornea.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:
INHALATION: Remove person to non-contaminated air. Call a physician if symptoms persist.
INGESTION: No need for first aid is anticipated if material is swallowed.
SKIN: Cuts or abrasions should be treated promptly with thorough cleansing of the affected area.
EYE: Eye injuries from glass particles should be treated by a physician immediately.

VII. SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES
Steps to Be Taken in Case Material Is Released or Spilled: Collect spill using a HEPA filter. Place in a closed container.
Waste Disposal Method: Dispose of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
VIII. SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION
Respiratory Protection: Not normally needed. If permissible levels are exceeded, use NIOSH approved dust respirator.
Ventilation: Use appropriate local exhaust ventilation to keep exposures below the regulated limits.
Protective Gloves: Wear leather or other appropriate work gloves, if necessary for type of operation.
Eye Protection: Wear safety glasses with side shields.
Other Protective Equipment: Wear coveralls.
IX. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Precautions to Be Taken in Handling and Storage: Avoid inhalation of dusts. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wash thoroughly after handling. Store in a dry area.
Work Practices: Implement engineering and work practice controls to reduce and maintain concentration of exposure at low levels. Use good housekeeping and sanitation practices. Do not use tobacco or food in work area. Wash thoroughly before eating and smoking. Do not blow dust off clothing or skin with compressed air.
